Pacific Mountain Alliance for Innovation Strategic Plan Report Now Available

Students from the Milgard School of Business worked with WIRED staff to prepare a regional analysis examining business strengths and opportunities for our region. On April 14th, two students, David Miller and Stephen Thompson presented their findings in a report to a diverse group of interested individuals. This report was the result of a massive amount of processed and analyzed data concerning our region. Presented in a format that demonstrated the authors' enthusiasm, professionalism and familiarity with their subject matter, this report makes the data approachable.

Industry Panels

Construction, Manufacturing, Energy Technology, Innovation & Entrepreneurship

High wage, high demand jobs. WIRED targets the Industries of Construction, Manufacturing, Energy Technology, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship because of the opportunities they bring to the Pacific Mountain Region.

The five counties in the region share many economic similarities, particularly interdependence on traditional and renewable energy resources, manufacturing, and construction. These three sectors create a foundation for the support of skills training and talent development strategies. Also, new entrepreneurial ventures are recapturing the natural resource base. The Pacific Mountain Region, through its advanced manufacturing processes and sustainable energy technology, is leading the green revolution.

Each of the targeted Industries has a Coordinator overseeing industry-driven collaborative projects. These projects are aligned with the strategy in The Next Washington, “to build the skills and talents of Washingtonians, support our world-class firms and industries, focus our resources on effective programs, and move the whole state forward while providing special attention to regions and people who are not advancing as quickly as the rest of the state.”
